Charitable Gifts for the Holiday Season! - December 12, 2011

Happy Holidays! Here are three great ways to give a little extra this holiday season...

If you buy a copy of Goodnight Charlotte until January 1st, we'll donate a portion of sales to the Indianapolis Chapter of the MS Society.

The Indiana State Fair Stage Collapse Project Download contains 48 tracks of both local and national bands, which is 2.9 hours of music! It's $10 and the proceeds go directly to the Indiana State Fair Remembrance Fund. You can preview the songs and download it here.

And, the theatrical release of the independent film Paradise Recovered several weeks ago at the Buskirk Chumley also doubled as a release for the film's soundtrack. There are two tracks of mine that haven't been released anywhere else, and it's 12 songs from all Indiana-based bands. It's a diverse collection of musical genres and you can order a CD for $12.97 or get the digital download for $9.99, and the best part, aside from the music being great, is that a portion of the proceeds goes toward supporting independent Indiana artists and another portion goes to benefit the Wellspring Retreat and Resource Center, a residential treatment center for those who have been abused in relationships, cults, situations of trauma, and by destructive therapeutic alliances. Wellspring offers hope and help through a program of counseling, education and retreat. Order the soundtrack for Paradise Recovered here.

Check out the new song I wrote for a contest held by the Indianapolis International Airport. Your view counts as a vote and the video with the most votes gets a trip for two to Florida!

And if you like it, please pass it on, send it to your friends and ask them to vote, or share it on Facebook and Twitter!

Change in lineup! - July 15, 2010

There's been a change in our lineup for the CD Release party.

Evan Slusher will open the evening with a short half hour acoustic set, followed by Tonos Triad, then we'll play.

Also, please tune in 88.7 FM WICR for Cary Allen Fields' Redbud Radio program where we'll premiere the album and welcome Evan Slusher to play a few of his songs live!

Thanks so much!

You can hear it on the radio! - July 8, 2010

Friends,

Cary Allen Fields has been so nice to debut our album on his radio program Redbud Radio, WICR 88.7 FM. Please check it out Saturday, July 24th at midnight until 3am!

If you tune in, you can also hear Pholly give a live studio performance!

We're really getting excited about our CD release - it's coming right up.

Saturday, July 31st at the Riverfront Ampitheater at the Indianapolis Arts Center. 7pm. Ten bucks. Presented by the good folks at Butler Scion.

The Broad Ripple Brewpub will be there with beer for purchase if you're 21+ and have your ID with you.

Bring a lawnchair or a blanket for a lovely night outdoors on the river.

The show is family friendly and we'd love it if you'd bring your kids. 12 and under get in free!

One more thing I'd like you to consider is helping our friends at Paradise Recovered reach their goal and take their film on the road. Read about it here, if you would. I'd be so grateful.

BIG news! - May 27, 2010

We've got some big news to share with everyone!

Grover and I have completed the tracks for our album "Goodnight Charlotte," and it's being mixed and mastered right this very second!

I can't really tell you how exciting this is. We've worked really hard on this album and can't wait to share it with you. I haven't posted any of the new album tracks to our website yet, but you'll really be able to tell the difference.

The album is much more atmospheric than what you're listening to right now. We've created soundscapes and rooms for you to travel through. We've added a few extra instruments, too. And there are some new songs that we've just started performing recently. You can find lyrics on the music tab, but you'll have to wait for the recordings!

Our friend Cary Allen Fields at 88.7 WICR FM has been nice enough to ask us to premiere the album on his show in late July, and I'll be sure to send out an announcement about that. We'll talk a little about the songs and play several tracks. The show will air a week or two before our big CD release show on July 31st at the Riverfront Ampitheatre at the Indianapolis Art Center!

Here's some other big news - as many of you might already know, Grover and I were asked to write the musical score for the movie Paradise Recovered. You can see the trailer and read the blog at http://www.paradiserecovered.com.

The film was completed yesterday. I haven't even seen the final cut - Andie Redwine and Storm Woods, the writer/producer and director for the film are making us wait for the cast and crew screening party sometime this summer.

Team Paradise has been busy preparing film festival entries and organizing screenings - check back on our calendar tab and we'll be sure to post those so everyone can check out the movie!

Here's a video clip from Danny Lacy's 24 Hour Live Show:

It's been a busy year for Grover and I and now, I think we're going to have a busy summer celebrating!

For a sneak peak at some of our new material, including a couple of the songs from Paradise Recovered, you can come see us live at The White Rabbit Cabaret on June 5th with our friend from Brown County, Lou Stant!

Everybody have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Adventures in Anderson - May 20, 2010

Last night, I played a solo show at Anderson's historic Paramount Theater with my friend from Nashville, Tennessee, Tom Shinness. What a beautiful place! The Paramount originally opened in 1929, owned by Paramount Pictures.

Check back to the photo section - I'll be updating it soon!

Tonight, May 20, Tom and I are up in Noblesville at the Blue Stone Folk School. They're good folks up there!

Hope to see you!

What's happening! - May 17, 2010

The weekend started out on a purple Midtown rooftop, singing under the stars and ended celebrating Grover's birthday with a Broad Ripple Art Festival Maple Trio performance... and THE WORLD'S LARGEST PORK CHOP - GENTLEMEN, START YOUR ENGINES, IT'S HERE... Man, I love fair food.

Here's some pictures I took!

The sign on Purple Sue's front door says: Please remove your shoes. This is on her front porch.

Sue sells beautiful jewelry out of her house. Inner peace through impulse buying. Hee hee.

The lovely Stasia Demos warming up on the roof, pre-concert.

The fabulous Nora Spitznogle took this picture of me and my ginormous pork chop. Broad Ripple Art Fair.

Here's Grover playing on the Riverfront Ampitheatre at the Art Center with Bill Price and his band of Skeptics.

Incidentally, this is where we're having our CD release party on July 31st! And, as luck would have it, this weekend saw the confirmation of none other than the Broad Ripple Brewpub Beer Truck! That's right. They're pulling the beer truck up in through the grass to our concert.

I really couldn't have asked for much more out of a weekend.

Louisville is for (pizza) lovers - May 5, 2010

Louisville is a great city. And Clifton's is a great place to play and hear live music. Last night, Grover and I made the trip down to play with our friend Danny Flanigan . And I've added Clifton's to my Top Five Pizzas list. Here's what pizzas at Clifton's look like.

Muncie is Funcie! - May 3, 2010

We had a great time playing at Kennedy Library in Muncie this past Sunday! So nice to see everyone and make some new friends. Special thanks to Harriette Harra for putting everything together.

Several people have asked me, when I announced that May 2nd is my father's birthday and I'd love it if everyone could come out and sing Happy Birthday to him - is this his real birthday? Ok... so we might sing Happy Birthday to my dad several times a year. He might be the "boy who cried birthday." But yesterday, May 2nd, was his real birthday and we thank everyone so much who came out and spent a little time with us! (Happy Birthday, Pop!)

Tomorrow, May 4th, we're headed down to Louisville and I'm really excited about the trip. We'll be playing at Clifton's Pizza with our friend Danny Flanigan and are hoping to see some of the nice people I met the last time I played at Clifton's! Louisville is a great city we're starting to explore. It's always nice to meet new friends.

Coming up, we've got a few shows I'm excited about - one in Anderson, at the Paramount Theater with harp guitarist, Tom Shinness, one in Noblesville and one back in Indianapolis at Indy Hostel. Check out our calendar section for details!

Hope to see you soon!!!

Come help us wish Russ Wahlers Happy Birthday! - April 30, 2010

Stutz Artists Open House this weekend - April 20, 2010

Grover and I will be playing on Friday night from 6pm - 8:30pm and Saturday from 2pm - 4:30pm. Come find us!!!

The 17th Annual Stutz Artists Open House will be held Friday, April 23, 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm and Saturday, April 24, 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Stutz Business Center (1060 N. Capitol Avenue in downtown Indianapolis). There is free on-street parking in specially marked lots along Capitol, Senate Avenues and 11th Street. Advanced sale tickets are $10, $12 at the gate, with a special $8 Saturday re-entry (with Fri's ticket stub). On Saturday only, kids 16 and under are free.

More than 70 artists open their studios to visitors during the two-day event. It's not only an opportunity to see the work of 70 local artists in one place at one time, it's a chance to see where and how the work is created.

In addition to being a great place to buy one-of-a-kind gifts. The event offers a rare chance to see vintage cars in the historic Stutz car factory. Visitors also enjoy special gallery opening activities such as acoustic music and food vendors.

The myriad artists who make up the Stutz Artists Association all share the common love of art but widely diverge from there. They work in a variety of styles, from traditional to contemporary. Some have advanced degrees in art, and others advance their art in degrees. Some teach classes and hold workshops, and others mentor one-to-one.

Some produce work that's accessible to a broad audience and sell a large amount of work, while others focus on work that's purely for their own enjoyment. Many of the Stutz artists have artwork in permanent collections at museums, schools and hospitals. Some are regional and even national award winners.

Housing the largest group of artists under one roof in the Midwest, the exterior of the yellow brick buildings that comprise the complex have changed little since the Stutz motor car was made here. Located on an entire city block in downtown Indianapolis, the interior of the 400,000-square-foot former car factory has been renovated into studios and office space. The Stutz is now home to artists, designers, architects, creative professionals and other small businesses. The association also hosts monthly First Friday exhibitions and offers a range of classes.

On the outside, the yellow brick buildings that comprise the sprawling complex have changed little since the Stutz motor car was made here. Located on an entire city block in downtown Indianapolis, the 400,000-square-foot former car factory has been renovated into studios and offices. The Wheeler and the Folk School! - April 19, 2010

Hi friends! Grover and I had a really great weekend, kicking it off with a opening set at the Wheeler Building for our friends Brains Behind Pa. It was the first time the full band had played in Indianapolis in about a year and we were really happy not only to hear it, but to be a part of it! Saturday morning, we found ourselves up in Noblesville, playing at Barnes and Nobles for the Blue Stone Folk School day. Barnes and Nobles generously donated 10% of their sales to the folk school! Local authors were there, I learned how to tie a fly, felt yarn, print from a letterpress and got to hear great musicians play like Pholly, Evan Slusher (who I'm now a huge fan of), Geoff Davis, The Poison River Boys and others!

Noblesville author Larry Sweazy donated an additional 10% from sales of his books The Rattlesnake Season and The Scorpion Trail! It was nice talking to Larry. He autographed both of his books for me! I started reading The Rattlesnake Season Saturday night and couldn't put it down - I've never read a Western before! You can find out more about Larry at http://www.larrydsweazy.com/. And you can find out more about Blue Stone Folk School at http://www.bluestonefolkschool.org!

Grover and I are about ready to start a pretty busy summer, starting with Friday night, where you can find us at The Stutz Open House from 7-9 and Saturday at 2pm! And then next weekend, we'll be in Muncie at Kennedy Library and we're headed to Clifton's Pizza to play with Danny Flanigan on Tuesday, May 4th!

Check out our calendar page and stop on by for a show! We'd love that!

Everybody have a great week!!!!
